Freight Services Update: 20 February 2026

Murin Barge Service Resumes

From Friday 20 February 2026, Murin Association’s barge freight service to Wadeye has recommenced, with secure arrangements supporting ongoing weekly deliveries to community.


Murin and its Board have worked to restore a stable and affordable service that meets long-term community and industry needs. Measures have been introduced to improve reliability and continuity to support the needs of residents and long-term community outcomes.


As a locally owned service, profits generated through Murin’s operations are reinvested back into the Thamarrurr and Daly regions to support long-term community outcomes. Our rates are structured to deliver strong value while supporting a sustainable long-term freight service.

Community Support & Backload Services

Consistent with previous arrangements, Murin will continue to support community needs through backload and freight assistance where possible, including recycling backloads (e.g. cans) free of charge and other community-focused freight support as opportunities arise.

How to send freight

(Effective 13 February 2026)

All barge transit times are based on an estimated duration of 16 hours.

Freight Drop-Off Location

For delivery to Wadeye, freight must be delivered to:


Shed 2 - 25 Muramats Road
East Arm, Darwin


Freight is to be marked correctly: including the recipient’s name, community, and

contact phone number.

Complete a consignment form  - available at the depot or via email upon request.

Freight Types and Drop-Off Times

Dry Freight

Drop-off times:

Monday to Thursday : 8:00am – 4:00pm

Note: Dry pallet deliveries are not accepted on Fridays.


Chilled / Frozen Freight

Drop-off times:

Friday: 6:30am – 12:00pm

Note: Chilled/Frozen pallet deliveries are not accepted Monday – Thursday.

Payment 

Payment of freight is required at delivery, in advance, unless customers have an existing account with Murin.

Special freight

Contact Murin Freight Operations before sending refrigerated, oversized, or high-value items for proper handling.
